Co-construct an understanding that music (and all skill development for that matter) isn’t always ‘fun’ but we can make it nearly always satisfying – supporting the development of GRIT and a healthy approach to learning. Remember, there will be JOY through this process and JOY when we succeed! Make connections and analogies with sport training vs games or races; immersive language learning (music IS a language, the THEORY and TECHNIQUE are there to support our COMMUNICATION); and look toward the future – what WILL I be able to do with this in the future (jam with friends, become a musician, appreciate the arts, develop skills for learning and life)
